text to myself

Here is a quote from a long way gone that relateds to my life"smoking marijuana and sniffing brown brown"When I think about this quote
I think about this quote I think about my brother and how he used to be before he was sent to prison.I saw my brother do many things that he is not proud of now and he regrets but when Ishmeal talks about them I dont think he regrets or is going to regret doing them because it helps him deal with the stress and all the chaos going on.
My brothers life before this was not nearly as bad as Ishmeals but it came close he had a child and didn`t know how to be a father He was losing friends and doing bad things he didnt care about other peoples feelings he only cared about getting high.

Keeping things whole

''KEEPING THINGS WHOLE"
by Mark Strand

In a field
I am the absence
of field.
This is
always the case.
Wherever I am
I am what is missing.

When I walk
I part the air
and always
the air moves in
to fill the spaces
Where my body`s been.

We all have reasons
for moving.
I move
to keep things whole.

This poem relates to a Long Way Gone by Ishmel Beah
I think this poem relates to this book because in the lines
we all have reasons for moving Ishmel the boy in the book only keeps moving for his family. He hopes that one day he will see them again. In the lines where it says I am what is missing Ishmel is the one that is missing from his family and he feels as if he is missing a part of himself therefore he is what is missing from himself. He will not be able to fill in the empty space until he finds his family to complete him.

novel/play

My favorite play that we did was Macbeth.I liked doing Macbeth because it was dramatic and I think it was a very passionate book with love and greed together. The greed was what I liked the most it took the book through a lot of twist and turns.I think it is one of the best books I have read this year I liked acting it out people made jokes about it and we had discussions about the book which made it easier to understand. This play was special to me because I got to play Portia one of the main characters. It made the book a lot more funnier to read.

Reflection

This year is started out doing okay but my attitude soon changed I didn't want to be in here.I was always messing around and getting into trouble I didn't care about my teachers feelings or how i was affecting the class. Mrs. Deraps took the time to come out and talk to me after class.I was failing and she would not leave me alone until I did my missing work. After doing so my grad started to go up and my attitude improved but I still had my ups and downs.

My writing I think has improved a lot this year.I learned to express how I feel through poems.Mrs.Deraps taught me and my whole class how to write better poems and story's.I really liked writing the vignettes They were very hard to write sometimes but I had a lot of help from my teacher and friends in my class. My reading improved a little bit but I have always been a Farley good reader.I liked reading the books that we could act out I think it gave more meaning to the book and was easier to understand for Me it was at least.
